Turks & Caicos

GRACE BAY, PROVIDENCIALES

While my knowledge of the Caribbean is not as advanced as others, I can’t imagine a place any better than Turks & Caicos.  The water is incredible.  The people are incredible.  The food is incredible.  It’s completely safe so it’s not like one of those places where you get to your hotel and never leave the resort premises.  If you are looking for a Caribbean suggestion, Turks & Caicos is a great choice!

The Activities

THE BEACH

Ok, let’s face it, you choose a place like Turks and Caicos to relax, right!?  Well, this is mostly what I did.  I was only here for a long weekend, so I didn't get to explore the island as much as I would have liked.  But, you can stroll into town, rent a car and go to other beaches and have a blast.  Turks also has some amazing snorkling and diving.  If you are into that kind of thing, you will love it here!

The Food

BBQ ON THE BEACH

When I was visiting, I was told that every few days you can find a BBQ on the beach.  As this is a very safe island, you can walk on the beach at night to the BBQs.  This was a fun way to mix it up from a formal dinner.  And by the way, along the way, feel free to stop at any of the fancy hotels for a drink or appetizer.  There is usually live music somewhere, just follow your ear.

DA CONCH SHACK

The Conch Shack is a taxi ride away from Grace Bay.  I've actually more recently been told that the ride can be a little expensive, so talk to your hotel about prices before heading over there.  This is a glorified beach hut and rum shack.  They fish the conch out of the water everyday and you can see by all of the conch shells they have! The food is good, the rum is good, and the rum cake is good. I loved it!

COCO BISTRO

I haven’t actually been to this restaurant myself, but I’ve heard amazing things about it.  I would definitely try it next time I’m here!

The Lodging

OCEAN CLUB

There is an Ocean Club & an Ocean Club West.  Ocean Club West is a little more expensive, closer to the downtown area.  Ocean Club, is one of the last resorts on the beach so it is further from town, but also more secluded and quieter.  Turks & Caicos is an island where people with money travel to.  There are tons of lavish, and expensive hotel options that obviously have more to offer.  If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg, the Ocean Club is nice, and allows you the opportunity to be in paradise.  It's a great options and I would return!
